Just Add Mae...

Feeling a bit mojo-poor of late, so I thought that Just Add Ink's latest challenge...Just Add Mae would help lift my craftin' spirits. I am afraid that I did not really do Mae's beautiful work justice...but I did try. I tried hard, but I think it still fell flat. Not much I can do 'bout that though...at 7pm on a Sunday night. It is what it is!

I chose to use an old, old post of Mae's...from way back in 2008 in fact...where she showed us how to make a Z-fold card. I've never made one before...so it was fun to learn how. It wasn't Mae's instructions that led to my downfall though. Just...I don't know...I was feeling scrambled or something!

Here is my creation (the second one)...

If you look closely you can see where I have paper pierced some of the bunting in error. I won't even explain to you how I managed to do that. Just know that I was doing things ar*e about, and paid for it!

Here is the first card I made...and it just felt wrong...but I'm going to put it here because, well it took ages to make, and Miss 8 likes it :-)

I also did some real-life stitching on the above card (another thing I'd noticed on at least one of Mae's cards)...but mine started unravelling at the corner (even though I'd taped it at the back), and I was pretty bummed about that!

Like I said...it is what it is!
Sigh...

I think its really funny that I did a z fold card too for this challenge when I went right back as well on her blog and I didn't see your one till I uploaded mine. I had done a Eisel card last week and was looking for a different folded one to try. I love your card its so bright and colorful I really liked the other balloon one of yours too its really cute. You so should put both up on the challenge. Dont you just love case challenges I know I do. Sandy :)

Sam don't be so hard on yourself as I think both these cards are great and not everyone likes the same thing as your Miss 8 proves. I like the Z-fold card as you can make two cards from the one sheet of cardstock with no wastage and still get a different folded card. I like how you have let the kites wind down the card, very effective. I don't often use 'real' stitching on my card as I too sometimes find it unravels, I will often use 'faux stitching' though! Thanks for letting me inspire you and hopefully this might help get your mojo back. Thanks for joining in with our JAI challenge this week.

You are altogether too hard on yourself, Sam ... although I did have a good giggle at your explanations. Your card is a gorgeous work of art!! I can see why your daughter loves your first 'attempt' - it's a cute, fun card (just love those little fingers, and the hair!). Great take on Mae's Z-fold card. Thanks for playing along at Just Add Ink this week :)
PS: Love the new blog header.

This is awesome and bright and fun Sam - stop being so hard on yourself. Love the Z fold - Mae inspired me to do a couple of these cards a Christmas or two ago - love that you can get two cards out of one A4.

I think your cards are fab Sam - you are too hard on yourself. I must admit that when I look at cards that have different folds to usual, my brain goes to la-la land and have trouble getting them to work - so other than an Easel Card which I managed to work out - I don't do anything other than a regular card. I think you did an awesome job of these cards!!

They both look awesome Sam! I love how you have the bunting travelling across whole z fold card. So fun and effective:) Hope you feel like your mojo's back soon!
