I thought I'd participate in another of Kristina's Color Inspirations.
This week's colours are:
My contribution is:
Actually, that is not completely true. It is actually mine and Mum's contribution. Thanks for the consult Mum ;-).
I really like the pillow on the far left of the bed, and drew my inspiration from it. There is very little stamping on this card, in fact you may not be able to see the only stamping that I have done. The large Purely Pomegranate layer has been stamped with the Linen Background stamp, in Purely Pomegranate Classic Ink. The rest is punches, brads, eyelets and ribbon.
Thanks for visiting!
Sam.
PS. I'd like to add that I did not find these colours easy to work with at all. My Regal Rose is looking a bit flourescent, maybe because it was next to the Purely Pomegranate? Also, I realise that my colour inspiration cards are following a distinct trend....I'll have to get myself out of that for the next one!

A couple of cards from me
I missed last week's Colour Inspiration by Kristina Werner, but thought I'd give them a go anyway. I might add that I found them VERY difficult colours to work with, and my inspiration headed for the Brindabellas (our local hills) as soon as it saw them!!
Here is my very simple card:
It is a 5 x 5 inch square card with stamps from the Heartfelt Thanks set. Here is a close-up showing the Crystal Effects I used on the flower.
I was playing with scraps of cardstock at my table afterwards and also made this little card...I find it strangely pleasing on my eye (might have been the cold??):
It is one of Stampin' up!'s 3 x 3 inch Love Notes, and has been punched with a whole bunch of punches (obviously ;-).
Have a great day,
Sam.

In the Spotlight
Hi everyone,
First of all, sorry I have been MIA for the last two weeks. Sick kids here, and I haven't been feeling all that hot myself.
I just thought I'd share with you a card we made at a recent workshop. I got the inspiration and basic design of this card from a lovely card by Karen Thomas.
The colours of my card are: Blue Bayou, Really Rust, Soft Sky and Whisper White. The stamps are from the 'In the Spotlight' stamp set, a Stampin' up! Level 2 hostess set.
I've also used Fall Flowers DSP, textured cardstock, the scallop punch, lots of different circle punches, Blue Bayou double stitched ribbon, paper piercer, gel pen and Earth Elements buttons (oh, and the mandatory SNAIL, dimensionals and glue dots ;-).
I made some coordinating hostess gifts/lucky door prizes too:
Thanks for visiting.

Workshop Make n' Take
We all made this little Gift Purse at a recent workshop I demo'ed at.
Again, it was made using Sharon Turnbull's groovy design (Hi Sharon!!!). The Hostess and her guests loved it Sharon....it'll be used again for sure.
I did start out to fully CASE this one I saw on Diane's blog recently, but I don't have the 'Priceless' stamp set, so that was going to be a bit tricky. Then I thought it would be cool to incorporate the Circle of Friendship stamp set, available in this month's eScape promotion from Stampin' Up! I think it works well. I have used Blue Bayou cardstock and the Fall Flowers DSP, as did Diane. There are now two lots of Fall Flowers DSP slated for my next Stampin Up! purchase ;-).
Here is what the little insert looks like:
Ciao!

.....okay, so its not a card...
...it is not even made from paper, but it does look pretty (IMO ;-)!!!
This is the cake I made for the kids birthday party today.
The design is from the Women's Weekly Birthday cake mag. I thought it would be harder to make than it actually was. A couple of Buttercake packet mixes in the ring tins, whipped up the night before. Then two hours, some Betty Crocker Vanilla Icing coloured with Pillarbox Red and Blue, and two WHOLE packets of Pascal's Jubes sliced in half. The placement of those darn jubes was the most labour intensive part of the whole thing, but worth of every minute to see how excited the kids were!
Sam.
BTW - Yes! We have enough cake left over to last at about a week!

By Land - Paper Piecing
I just wanted to pop up a pic of a card I recently made. This one uses the Paper Piecing concept, where you stamp the same solid image on several different pieces of DSP or coloured cardstock, then you cut different bits out of the different colours/patterns and piece the image back together...clear as mud hey?
Here is the card...I think you'll get my drift!
A picture's worth a thousand words!
The colours are: Briliant Blue, Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie and Whisper White. I have used the Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie and Brilliant Blue Prints Designer Series Paper to paper piece the truck image from the By Land stamp set. I cut the different pieces out using a Craft Knife and Self Healing Mat. I then stuck the truck on a piece of Whisper White using the two-way glue pen. In the workshop we actually stamped one fo the faces from the All In The Family stamp set on the Whisper White so it was looking out through the truck window.
The Whisper White is then layered on Old Olive. This whole piece is mounted on Dimensionals on the Pumpkin Pie layer. I used the paper piercer, mat and template from the Crafter's Toolkit to mark out dots around the edge of the Pumpkin PIe layer, then punched out the circular holes using the 1/4" Circle Punch. This layer is also then mounted up on Dimensionals above another Whisper White layer and the whole lot is stuck on the background Brilliant Blue cardstock with Sticky Strip (thought it could use some heavy duty sticking power ;-). I have stamped the Brilliant Blue layer using the Rough texture Jumbo Wheel in Brilliant Blue. The Happy Birthday sentiments is stamed in Whisper White Craft Ink, and is from the Its Your Birthday?? stamp set (if this is not its real name...it should be!).
The number four is from a retired numbers set...probably Classic Numbers, and it has been stamped on Whisper White in Brilliant Blue and punched out using the 3/4" Circle Punch. It has been layered atop a piece of Brilliant Blue, punched using the 1" Circle Punch, and the whole thing mounted up on ANOTHER Dimensional.
Have a good weekend everyone!
