Today I have a fun little fairy-tale inspired birthday card to share with you...

I hope you can see the glimmer mist that I have spritzed on the kraft cardstock in the background. This was a very sweet gift from one of my lovely blog buddies, Debbie P. Thanks again Debbie I love it!

The colours I have used on this card were inspired by the pretty colours in my beautiful new mug by ioco (it was sitting on my craft desk at the time). I picked up this mug at adoretea while I was stocking up on flavoured Rooibos last week.

Project Recipe:

Cardstock: Kraft (Stampin' Up!), Shimmer White (Misc.) and Blending Cardstock (X-Press It)
Ink: Tuxedo Black Memento (Tsukineko)

There She Goes #157 - Sketch Challenge

I have a bit of a thing for the beautiful stamps at There She Goes...so when I saw they had a sketch challenge up and running, I thought I'd have to give it a go. Here is the Sketch...

And this is the card I have come up with...

 I have taken a bit of creative license with the layout, but you can still see the essential elements.

I even pulled out the Crystal Effects for the ghastly green alien dots and the icy moon craters...as you do! I haven't made a project recipe for some time, but I just felt like it tonight...

Simple Colourful Turtles

Just a simple little card to blog today. I have been having fun playing with my Copic markers again. I find colouring very relaxing, and easy to do in front of the telly at night after I've clocked off for the day ;-). However, as with crocheting in front of the telly, I do end up missing a lot of the show, and mainly rely on hearing it (which is particularly bad in the case of Homeland, where there seem to be a lot of action sequences and meaningful glance-type communication going on).

But I digress! The card...

Lil Monster Wishes...

 This week I discovered and joined the Annabelle Stamps - Stamp Embellish Create ning site:

It is a is a lovely, free community for sharing cardmaking, stamping techniques and crafting ideas!

Once I'd found my way around the site (and said hello to a few fellow crafters and bloggers), I found a great video tutorial by Sue Kohler, on how to make groovy dotty textures using Copic markers. It looked so fab I had to give it a try!

 

My Copic colouring skills still leave a lot to be desired, but I'll get there one day! In the meantime, I'm having lots of fun, and watching lots of YouTube video tutorials too.

I have used Annabelle Stamps Lil Monster again...he is so sweet and goofy, and so much fun to colour. The gorgeous, textured, brown background paper is from the Tiny Woods collection by Kaisercraft (swoon), and it reminded me so much of monster fur, that I thought it was perfect for this job.

I've also added a few big dollops of Crystal Effects to the balloon, eyes, tooth and toes. I love how it makes these things just jump off the card.

The sun is out here today, and we have a lovely long weekend to look forward to. Hope yours is lovely too!

Catch a Falling Star...

...and put it in your pocket :-).

I got the lovely stamp 'Catch a Falling Star' by Leanne Ellis from the Sugar Nellie Stamps shop online.

This is the card I made with it yesterday:


The base card is 6 x 6 inches (again...I have a thing for big squares just now ;-). The little 'sticks' poking out from under the main image layer were an accident...I had trimmed bits lying about and they got caught up behind the main image, and then I thought they kinda looked cool, so I added more...et voila! There is Crystal Effects on the red flower in her hair, on the dots on her skirt and on the star.

I am going to put a sentiment in the bottom left hand corner of the Whisper White layer...but didn't get around to it before snapping these shots. I'll use a Stampin' Up! rub-on because these are the BEST. Have I mentioned that before...Hmmmmm?

Cardstock: Night of Navy (textured), Riding Hood Red, Summer Sun and Whisper White

While I was outside taking snaps the kids were hovering about going 'take one of me Mum, take one of me'...so I did:




Mr Almost-three is far too quick for me...this shot was out of focus on the left hand side...so I just cropped it out!
